That made me smile, what a neat spider!
ThreeWolves, you should look at it. It's got the cutest marking of a big smiley face on its body. And it's a very small spider.
Here's a link about it with no images. Theridion grallator - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
If I ever saw that, I would die. I would drop dead of a heart attack right then and there.
I refuse to click on the link, just came here, finally, after working up the nerve, to see what others were saying about it.
I'm still traumatized by the Discovery Channel when they, mny years ago, would have a bird spider leap at the camera at the end of their commercial for "Fangs and Claws". That thing was way too big...ok, well, all spiders are too big as far as I'm concerned. Those things were as big as someone's face, as well.
Edit: GAK!!!!!! I scrolled up to read other replies when I was done and someone posted huge spider pics! WTH man! A warning, people, give a warning! Now I'm all eeeched out...and that was just the millisecond I saw the pics as I couldn't scroll fast enough. Now I'm slapping at everything because I'm hypersensitive to touch especially after seeing those things. My hair touches my face, "Acck!" Slap!!!! it away. Seriously, a WARNING next time!
Geez. Its a thread about spiders. what were you expecting?
Call me sick but I think it's kind of beautiful! I've never been bothered by spiders ... (OK, this one might freak me out if it were in my house ...)
I do wish they had included a photo where we could actually see the size in relation to something else -- it's hard to imagine it being really as large as they said it is (I'm not doubting them, just wishing someone had put a ruler next to it, lol!).
I agree with you, Karen. The spider is quite beautiful. I hate it when I find spiders in my house, but outdoors in their own habitat, they are extraordinary and beautiful creatures.
