Did you know coral reefs are some of the biggest living things on earth and can be seen from space?

Good reading ---> NOAA's Coral Reef Conservation Program: From Polyp to Colony

Here's a great graphic from wikipedia on how they form on ocean islands called atolls.

Found on ---> The Structure and Distribution of Coral Reefs - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here's the resulting aerial view. This is Kanton Island, about halfway between Hawaii and eastern Australia. This was once the shape of the top of a volcanic mountain top.

Reefs are the reason I learned to scuba. I hope I can see more in the future. So beautiful.

Almost everyday at my old job I use to day dream about just packing up and moving to some remote island somewhere, learning how to live with the natives, build a hut on the beach and how to fish and climb trees for coconuts. Coral reefs are so awesome. I will live on one someday.
