There's a cardinal that spends his mornings attacking his reflection in my car's side mirrors. He really beats the living hell out of himself. I wouldn't mind that he does it except that his attack isn't limited to wings, feet, and beak. It appears that he also sprays his reflection with feces as a bit of biological warfare. Not much fun cleaning that off. Maybe I'll start putting bags over the mirrors when I park at night.

LOL - I had the same problem this spring with a bird (I am not sure what type) except he/she didn't attack the mirror. The thing would sit on the mirror and peep at itself and poop on the mirror housing. I always thought the bird was thinking "Dang, I'm so good looking I could poop!".

Had the same problem (but with finches) and NOTHING helped. I had to drape a rag over each mirror when I parked. Annoying!

Birds can be such pricks! Pooping on the other guy? Wow, that's low even for animals. I wonder if they sometimes do that to unsuspecting birds that are simply minding their own business. Heck, I'm now wondering if some birds purposely poop on cars that just came out of the car wash? Maybe the extra shininess is a hint for them to be mischievous. LOL

Yep, cover the mirrors and hope it doesn't notice the windshield.

During breeding season that is very common with birds. We had a robin that was seeing its reflection in our garage window. I didn't think much of it because I had seen birds do that with car mirrors before. I went into the garage to get in my car to leave and when I looked at the window it has blood all over it. I was horrified to see this bird was smashing into the window still and to the point of busting his head open. I taped a piece of cloth to the window from the inside and had to get going. Unfortunatelyy when I got home I found him dead on the back porch.
