I say we kill all the mosquitoes. No one would miss them.
I say ditto. Viruses and germs will be with us forever in one form or another. Killing the vector makes more since then wiping out a species. There could be consequences to that as well. I wonder what all those mosquito larvae feed?
Have we not learned that everything has its place whether it hurts some or not, whether we think they are pests or not, whether we like dealing with them or not? Do we not ever learn?
If we weren't travelling so much into and out of the tropics and such for trade and other purposes most of these diseases would never make it out of the places they originate. Our industrialized, mechanized society has basically created the perfect environment for diseases to rapidly spread.
There is no such thing as Zika virus. It's just a means for our leaders [sic] to tell us,"Look over here at this...not over there at that". Not worth killing all the monkeys over that.
Besides, they're kinda cute (the monkeys, not the false viruses).
Instead of killing monkeys, we should thank them. The human population has gotten out of control and disease is one of the ways mother nature tries to keep things in check, albeit unsuccessfully.

I think it is Wal-Mart's fault. They've imported everything else.
Primates have got to be the most dangerous live animals for humans to be in contact with, disease-wise. Well, after insects maybe. Given that humans are primates and are so genetically similar to other primates, whatever they have has a much greater risk of affecting humans too. Unlike humans, other primates don't generally take the same measures for health, safety, and disease-control. Hell, even humans have problems containing diseases.
