This is a serious thread, and you guys are just being silly. Everyone knows that if the shark had just had a friggin' laser on his head, he'd have blown up the air tank from a safe distance. Speculating on wild fantasies about sharks who know how to read is beneath the serious tone of this discussion.

That said, I just can't help commenting (once again) about how ironic and how entertaining it is that every single time - every single time - someone on the internet posts that they don't believe in evolution, it turns out that they are completely, utterly, profoundly ignorant of even the basic principles of how evolution works. Every time - without fail - they proclaim that they do not believe in something that they don't even understand on a 4th grade level.

I don't understand why they keep doing that. I would really be embarrassed, honestly.

Consider that the "theory" of evolution might be a lie.

Okay, I've considered it and was unable to come up with any reasons as to why it would be a lie.

Do you have some reasons? Or perhaps better to ask, do you have any reasons apart from the fact that evolution blows the Genesis creation story right out of the water?

Of course. There is around 200-300 billion stars in the Milky Way alone. And there's almost 200 billion galaxies. Of course there has to be life somewhere else, I'm quite confident of this. But have extraterrestial intelligence influenced our planet - no. There would be some residue (evidence), and nobody seems to be close enough, as we haven't noticed them. Yes, most likely there is intelligent life elsewhere, but as likely is that we will never have any contact with them. A stroke of luck if we do.

Consider understanding how science works.

Evolutionary theory isn't some secret passed around between every last biology department on the face of the planet. As a theory, it is fully testable. It's probably been subjected to as much peer-review as any theory ever put forth.

In fact, the very concept that a theory is a 'lie' really doesn't make any literal sense. Theories can be wrong. They can be falsified (though, really, if anything is falsified then it is very unlikely that it ever even made it past the hypothesis stage to become a theory). But a 'lie'? The fact that you put it that way strongly suggests that you're yet another person who really doesn't have the foggiest idea what constitutes a scientific theory, much less what evolutionary theory predicts and the evidence which supports it.

All you know is that you dislike it. And that's enough for you to reject it.

there are many traditions, hieroglyphs, documents, etc throughout written history that depict "things emerging from the sky". there are references in ancient egyptian, mayan history, hinduism, and most all other religious traditions. and most scientists now acknowledge the possibility of intelligent extra terrestrial life. most of you are blind to the possibility that there ARE super beings who are millions of years ahead of us in technology and travel, who have far superior understanding of the universe. we have new scientific discoveries every day which are negating existing scientific theories. science is NOT a law, it's in constant flux as we discover new informations and only exists within the limitations of what we currently know. old theories replaced by other theories, you all here believe it's a constant forever, that is simply not true. nasa has even discovered accelerated particles that go faster than the speed of light, which negates one of einstein's postulations.

my theory is within science, and not religion. that a far superior specie of intelligent life has interfered with our histories and continues to do so, who have vast knowledge in genetics and has altered the biological progression on earth and perhaps they periodically share knowledge in what we refer to as our, "discoveries." we are only now discovering this knowledge through science. and that we are now creating new species of plantlife, gmo vegetables and fruit, and creating new animal species via chimeras is an example that darwinism is outdated. if in fact current wildlife are pure evolutionary descendants of past animals, there simply would not have been a 99.999999999% extinction rate of all species to have ever roamed earth.

for the same reasons we humans do on our own scale. it's economics. as we have removed animals from the wild and created farms for livestock and agriculture, for our consumption and economies. we continue to alter practices and now even gmo. one day, we will be cloning and splicing lifestock genetics.

who knows what these superbeings are using humans for, harvesting energy? harvesting gold? but we do serve it via the almighty dollar or via religion. one could ask, what on earth are we building all this stuff for.
