This thread should have world wide attendance.
It's a huge problem in many countries.

I've yet to find a child producing a strong enough sound, compared to a barking dog both in volume and duration. If such thing exists, it'd be a rarity.

On the contrary, it's pretty common for people to have such annoying barking machines.

Regarding that, countries like Switzerland or Singapore, with strict and harsh rules against producing noise, specially during rest hours, would seem paradise, no matter ho many people complain about such rules.

Ugh, I so wish you were with me on the few occasions this very high pitched screaming child was in the stores at the time I was shopping. I wouldn’t have thought it possible either unless I had seen and heard. Heard throughout the store. I might be able to laugh about it now but then, NO!!! Hands over ears wasn’t helping much and God forbid when Mom pushing child in cart was in the aisle just around the corner,....egads.

We do have a neighbor who has the continual barking dog as well. We have 2 dogs and one of them has a tendency to be a loudmouth but we bring him back inside. Rather than the one that has dog barking for over an hour on daily basis. Still, that child (note above) takes the cake.
