They have gravitated from out of the wall/floorboard in our neighboring apartment (we are in Los Angeles). It doesn’t fly or jump like a flea and doesn’t really have the shape of a bedbug?

Maybe, but none of them curled into a ball (of the ~100 we found and killed)

There are "pill bugs" and there are "sow bugs". Both are arthropods found in moist soil. Sow bugs can't roll up all the way. Info:
