Few years ago it was believed that mountain goats were "forcing" big-horned sheep (Colorado's State animal) out primarily because the goats were to believed to be carriers of a disease that was killing the sheep. As a result of this view, liberal hunting of the goat was permitted.


Searched the web for updates to no avail. Anyone?

Aren’t mountain goats non-native to CO, whereas bighorn sheep are native to parts of it?

And I thought one of the ways that bighorns get sick is from contact with domestic sheep, but I may be confusing this with two other species that sometimes mingle.
