About about an hour ago I decided to go outside on my deck and just sit in a lawn chair for awhile .........hazy sun, totally calm(absolutely NO noise or sounds), about 55 degrees and just enjoy the view of the mountains and the pines.
My deck is about 14 feet wide at this point and is about 20" to 24" off the ground with some small evergreens spaced about 30 inches apart all along the edge.
I had made no noise and was seated in a lawn chair
about 4 feet from the edge of the deck.................
..........THEN,!!!!!!, this perfectly quiet, peaceful moment in time was shattered by 2 Wild Turkeys (B-29s) exiting their 'space' taking flight virtually directly underneath my 'space'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This unnerving event was followed (simultaneously--within one second, ) by a covey of Valley Quail (P-51s) exploding out of the same "escape route"!!!!!!

Believe me, my description does not due justice to the degree of exhilaration I experienced..............took about 3 minutes for my heart rate to get back to normal.

Oh, I believe you! I was going down a twisty two-lane at about 65mph one time when a turkey decided to cross my path about head high and maybe 10'-15' in front of me. Made me wish I carried a shot or two of whiskey on the bike, of course only for medicinal use like trying to coax my heart back into my chest.

Now THAT'S funny. Though I'd describe the quail more like P 47 Thunderbolts. LMAO
