A bit off topic, but this reminds me of a trip nigh on to 40 years ago to Iquitos Peru. Name of the place was "The Amazon Camp" It was really nice. Two American guys running it (iirc) with all local workers. Everything built by hand. They had a walkway/dock that went down to the boat launch which sloped up and down in a haphazard way. They told us they had directed the workers to build it three feet off the ground. But the ground was uneven.
At the time, I thought it was a funny story, but now I think they just didn't give the workers careful instructions.
