I noticed this issue with the CDT. The complaints are the CDT is not a well marked trail; there's a lot of road walking; and there are many alternative routes. I get the impression that if a hiker just walked north/south, then he/she will eventually make it to the border.

Oh the CDT shortcuts are ridiculous. I have yet to see one single YouTuber complete the entire CDT. Almost everybody cuts off the San Juan Mountains in Colorado. That cuts 200 miles off the trail. Almost everybody cuts off the entire Idaho section of the trail. That cuts off 500 miles. That's 700 miles of trail that most people don't hike. That's more than a month of hiking for most people.

Yet they will hike the basins in Wyoming and New Mexico, because that is flat easy hiking.

If I had the skills to write software, I would make an app to certify that somebody actually hiked an entire trail using GPS tracking. Maybe that would help cut down on the cheaters.

I don't want to link to my own channel on the platform for privacy reasons but some of the memorial park hikes on YT are really fun to watch.

And she is off the trail again, at least for now. Reason given due to the heavy snowfall in Southern California. But she is making another video complaining about her mental health issues.

Happy reminds me of Hawk and Quicksand. IIRC, the 3 met up on the AT in 2021. Happy is a beast. He hiked the Smoky Mountains during a blizzard in 2021 when everyone else got off the trail.

I didn't realize Daisy's weight was an issue in the hiking community. From the YT videos I've watched, there are people of difference shapes, sizes, ages and color on the trail. I didn't think weight would be an issue. Heck, there are some YT vloggers whose main goal is to lose weight while thru-hiking. It's really no big deal.
