I was wrong. I'd watched the video of Julia, Rocket (Kyle), and Gabe / Mayor finish the Arizona Trail - which I mistaken thought was the CDT. Nevertheless, they started at the border of Mexico/Arizona and finished by crossing the state line of Utah. Impressive!
I hate to burst another balloon, but she didn't really finish that trail either. They admitted to skipping portions of it due to bad weather. I'm really not sure if she and her trail friends are even capable of hiking a continuous path through even one state. I'll be surprised if she even completes the California section of the PCT. That group seems to enjoy hiking, but only until they get tired of it. But like I said, I will be happy if I'm wrong. I love her videos.

Plus, she seems to have a different hiking companion every time; not that it's a big deal but just something that I noticed is unusual for hikers that I follow. Most hikers with their own YT channel are either solo hikers or a part of a hiking team (one or more persons) who hike together from trail to trail.

An odd fact is that I'm a little conflicted about Julia's channel. On one hand, she seems to be moody, a complainer, and isn't one who relishes in the natural beauty surrounding her. She just rushes through the hike almost as if the beauty of nature is an afterthought.

On the other hand, there is something so authentic and raw about her - she doesn't put on airs and she has tenacity. Maybe that's why I was drawn to her channel after it was mentioned on the thread early on. Once I start watching her and the guys on the AZ Trail, I couldn't stop until that video series was over.
I believe Julia is a contract nurse. She did a video about it a while ago. I have seen a few other YouTube hikers who do that work too. A nurse can easily make $50,000 - $100,000 for a six month contract. Then use that money to travel for another six or more months before going back to work. It's not a bad lifestyle. It's a good way not to burn out with the heavy workload of nursing.

Also like all YouTube hikers she gets paid by YouTube to make videos. Right now she is making about $181 a month and she hasn't even started her PCT hike yet. Once she starts making daily hiking videos again, she will probably be making over a thousand dollars a month from YouTube ad revenue. If she could get serious about completing her hikes and consistently making videos she could probably make as much from making hiking videos as she can from nursing.

Cloudy Dayz, arer you still watching Erin on JMT? What are your thoughts?

I watched Day 1 on the JMT (Erin) and...nothing sparked my interest. I thought maybe it was because it was her first day, so I watched Day 2. That was a longer video and time slowed down for me again.

I think it's a combination of things: I've been spoiled by some very engaging hikers (Feral hikes, Meandering Megan - before she paused her video and then came back online later, and Julia Sheehan who complained a lot but she was tough, rugged, and interesting.

The other thing is that right now, I'm going through a phase where I'm deep into solo minivan camper videos. It seems that all the minivan and teardrop campers I've seen have engaging personalities and awesome videos! I'm not sure how long I'll stay on this high before I return to my first love, hiking videos, but I'll ride this out.

Back to Day 1 on JMT, I found myself being more concerned about Erin's safety. She comes across as very young and vulnerable. She's also very soft-spoken. A lot of the time, it sounds like she's mumbling and it hard for me to understand what she said. She may need a better mic. The plus is the area is very beautiful.

Jay Wanders Out videos, YAS!!! Now that's my type of hiking video. As soon as I heard the music score accompanying his video, I was like "okay folks, I think we've got a WINNER!" I watched the entire 29:04 minutes and was not disappointed! It lived up to its intro. The vid didn't seem longer than 10 mins. I noticed the he has videos of his PCT hike. I'll check those out after I catch up on his AT vids.

Thanks Cloudy Dayz!

I think she is okay. She is just getting started. So I guess she will improve with time. I liked her last video of climbing Mount Whitney. Those were some great views.

Jay Wanders Out is coming along quite nicely on the AT. He's very likeable. His subs have grown by leaps and bounds.

Every now and again, I'll receive a notification about Julia Sheehan on the CDT (I think it is). I haven't checked it out yet but I probably will when I get more downtime from work. I hadn't watched Julia since she did the AZ trail last year.

I follow three RVer's, two solo women and one solo man. They're all older, age 50+ and I love their vibe.
