Swarming is fascinating. The bees put a lot of work into finding a new hive. Imagine bees exploring locations, communicating about them, deciding on where to go, getting themselves out of the hive and together, and moving. Tom Seeley describes it well in Honey Bee Democracy. I'm getting bees in a few weeks partly because they're very interesting.
Neither could I. There’s a channel on YouTube called Brave Wilderness where the host gets up real close to various wildlife, something I’d never have the courage to do.

I 'kept' bees for a few years and found it to be the most fascinating, rewarding hobby I'd ever had. It was work, though, make no mistake. And a steep learning curve, but I loved it nonetheless. Gave it up for a number of reasons , unfortunately, but I still miss them.
Yes, how the bees scout for a new home once they swarm is incredibly 'genius.' Dr. Seeley's book is pretty technical, but I'd also recommend watching anything on YouTube by Michael Palmer (Mike) of French Hill Apiaries. He is a nationally recognized bee expert and a local treasure who used to come to our local bee club meetings.
Good luck with your beekeeping!!!
They wear an amulet with the queen in it and the bees will come for her. Amazing!!!
That's why there were somewhat peacefully going into that guy's bee box. They know the queen is in there by her pheremones. It's amazing that he actually found her in that swarm!!!
swarming bees are really something to see. i've only see it happen once, but not nearly as many as this video.
