Before I say anything I would love to emphasize this simple little concept, there will be no debating in this thread. At all. None. No city bashing, no people bashing, no group bashing, any of it. This thread will be for the statistics and not for child like arguments. Now then,
All of the following figures are based of population change from the 2000 census to the 2009 estimate.

Fremont has shrunk by 1,016 from 26,023 to 25,007 a decrease of 3.9%

(I think its funny that since you discouraged bashing, there are no posts.) Oh well.

Long Live East Campus................some of you will get the humor in that. It's a reference to the study of agriculture at the University of Nebraska, in a farm state that hosts a magnificent town with stockyards origins--Omaha.

Otherwise, (sorry) I don't have the stats to post on the economic news, but many towns are showing an increase in retail sales, as well. Will attempt to get it up, later, unless Go Ne beats me to it.

My little town on the Harlan Lake is showing a 16% increase. I think that same stat, East of here, is very positive.

I guess we'll go to another thread, later this week, for an analysis of what's causing the growth or lack thereof.

You can do analysis and such here, I would simply rather this not turn into a flame war.

McCook has lost 584 people from 7,994 to 7410 (although it has experienced a small gain of 42 since 2008, you among them I'm guessing) with that its a loss of 7.31%

Any ideas about why Fremont is shrinking when all the other similar cities in that region are growing?

Fremont is just so close to Omaha is my thought, so they can't really compare, where as all the other cities are atleast 100 miles away.

I think the Papillion growth made them swap places with North Platte moving Papio to 8th and NP to 9th. Sarpy has had good growth.
