You might try this link for some idea on what you may be able to see in North Platte:

TV Fool

Now, this is a "city level" estimate, and may not reflect what you'll get - but you can go the same site and put your address or coordinates in.

In reality, only expect to be able to get the channels in green or yellow.

Another thing to consider is that North Platte is unusual in that two of the local stations actually transmit on lowband VHF - the longest wavelengths used for television, sharing some of the characteristics of AM radio. Most stations now transmit their digital signals on UHF frequencies - even if they are known as channel 2 or 6 (WDIV in Detroit, for example, is known as Channel 4 whilst actually transmitting on channel 45. The TV set "secretly" goes to channel 45 when one pushes "4" on their remote).

This means, in North Platte, you will need an outdoor antenna if you want NBC (2), and a big one at that if you want ABC (6).

Good luck with your reception, and feel free to PM if you have any questions about OTA reception!

In NP proper, you may not need an outdoor antenna due to being just a few miles from the KNOP tower. You'll definitely need good rabbit ears though. No reason to try to pick up KWNB (channel 6) out of Hayes Center unless you want to watch Fox programming from KFXL (6.2) instead of KIIT (2.2), as the ABC programming is duplicated on KHGI-CD channel 27 which is the NP ABC affiliate and can be received with an indoor UHF antenna. However, its signal is limited to North Platte and the immediate surrounding area.
