My family and I live in Mississippi and are looking for a place to vacation for the Christmas holidays.
What we are looking for:
- Definitely wanting some snow
- Cabin like place to stay
- Close to city or town for shopping, restaurants, tourism, etc etc
- Would be nice to have some Christmas atmosphere (ie lights, festival, show, etc)

Group:
- 6 adults
- one 10yr old
- 1yr old

Any info would be appreciated.... and anywhere in US is an option.

Thanks!!!

Consider Mahoney State Park, between Lincoln and Omaha.

If you want snow you will want to look farther north like Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Michigan. We don't always have snow here on Christmas and they would probably have some neat areas with cabins.

Like Section M mentioned, no snow usually around Christmas.
There are some cool places to rent cabins in the state parks though. The link will show you which parks have what types of cabins, floor plans, costs, etc. Any light activities would have to be between Lincoln, or Omaha.

You just described............Estes Park, CO. Fly into Denver rent a car and drive up.

Nebraska has nothing like that.

Mahoney State Park's cabins are all booked up already (1 year in advance). It is hit or miss on the snow, if you want shopping Omaha does not anything to offer.

Plus the Omaha shuts down for the Holidays.

Yes, I agree, Mahoney is a sweet little "spot" in Nebraska. However, (excluding a record setting snowfall last winter) Nebraska's snowfalls are quite unpredictable. Head for Colorado. Estes Park is AMAZING!
