Papillion Best Place to Live
CNN just published best place to live. Papillion named #6 in the Nation and the only city in Nebraska to be in the top 100.

Hows the diversity there?
Are the people in Papillion receptive to people of other ethnic backgrounds? We are looking for somewhere that is peaceful, quiet and beautiful. We are a young couple with one child.

There's actually a little more diversity (at least than west Omaha) than you might think with many Air Force families living in this part of the metro. I hope this doesn't come across wrong... but I've actually been told that people here are almost 'overly' receptive (seemingly trying to right the wrongs of the past).

I agree... the long long history with the military in the area is a big factor in Bellevue, LaVista, and Papillion being more accepting of ethnic backgrounds - it doesn't appear to be a big deal. While the area is traditionally white middle class it is very accepting of both income and ethnic differences.

If I remember right I think when it was evaluated as part of the top places to live its biggest downfall was the arts... interesting to note that the city has that large outdoor amphitheatre at the dam site which opened last year... that the Community Theatre is now in its second season... and that the area is developing an Arts Council to support the local artists.
They have always had a great Community Bandboth the City and the new mall do somekind of performing art every weekend in the summer. Our family loves sitting in the park listening to the wide variety of music from local professionals.
Glad to see the community take that negative comment and try to do something with it.
