Hi. My husband has a job interview in Nebraska this weekend and if all goes well, our family will be relocating. We have 2 children- one is 11 the other is 1.5 yrs old.

We may look into moving (if all goes well and relocation package by company is good), to either Grand Island or Kearney.

I am a city girl at heart (Currently, we live in Chicago), so moving to Nebraska sounds VERY different!

What kind of info can you provide about each of these towns?

What info can you share about the school districts (both employment and the schools, in general) in those areas?- I am an early childhood (pre-k) teacher so I would be looking for a job in the fall.

This interview can go either way, but it looks promising, seeing as he has been interviewing for the position since the beginning of Dec and has now been asked to fly in for a face to face interview... one of the final steps in the interviewing process!

So, any info on either of these areas would be greatly appreciated! THANKS

There may be a bit of a culture shock from moving to GI or Kearney from a city like Chicago, but the people are great in that area and that area is actually been really on the rise the past few years.

I know Kearney is currently building two new elementary schools so I would assume that would have some jobs available.

yea... culture shock is a GREAT word for what we may experience! LOL

I have read that Kearney and GI are the some of bigger cities out there (near Ravenna- where my husband's possible job is), so those are the 2 cities we are looking into....

thanks for the elementary school info!
