Pack a lunch as it will take you about 8 to 10 hours to get there from the Lincoln area and at least one stop for gas along the way. When Matt told you that it was in the far western part of Nebraska he need to add a few more fars to his post.

No I think this is in Council Bluffs down by one of the casinos. You can see the casino off of I-80. I think you take the Lake Manawan Exit then go north.

I think its more like 6 to 7 hours to Sidney. Actually, my new wife and I make the trip to Scottsbluff (where she grew up) in about 7 hours and that's a little farther west and north of Sidney. Nevertheless...its a long one!! But I love it out there. If you go out to Cabela's then I would make the trip to Scottsbluff National Monument and Chimney rock, which are both in the area. It would make for a nice weekend trip.

If you really want to go to both Cabela's and Bass Pro, you can visit Sidney's Cabela's store then head south to Denver (about three hours) to the new Bass Pro store that just opened. It's right off I-270 at Quebec. That would be much better than the long drive between Council Bluffs and Sidney.

Sounds like I've got a lot of options for weekend trips out of Lincoln! You can go in any direction for a few hours and find something cool, it sounds like. And of course there are racetracks........

We moved to Sidney last year, hubby works for them. I will say by far that the Sidney store is sooo not like the other stores. I have been to Dundee Michigan, Wheeling WV, and Hamburg PA. We lived in WV. They are sooooooo much bigger and carry soooooo much more merchandise. I was extremly disappointed when we came to this place compared to other stores. Plus I notice things are more expensive here in Sidney than at the other stores. A shirt in Wheeling was like 15.00 here the exact same one was like 20.00, hello! I am by far not saying I don't like the stores, plural, I just don't like this particular store here, being that this is the NATIONAL HEADQUATERS for Cabela
