And trashy railroad workers is a general classification such as trashy white folk, hardly a educated statement and knowing railroad workers are union drug tested and background checks ran before they are hired not to mention well paid. This is not someone to get information from on anything.Must be people that make these statements are jealous or have been fired for not metting standards.

Default ..

I am from a big city (Omaha), and I have no issues with people from small towns, people from small towns have an essential role in keeping the large cities going by farming, transportation, distribution.. Without this role the big cities would be isolated and wouldn't survive..

People from the small towns and cities in Nebraska are for the most part very friendly and are not as close-minded and butchy like some want to think, lol.. Well, minus the random 1 in 100 towns where there are very weird attitudes like the one in Cedar County (another open topic)..

You laugh, but in my home town it was not a startling sight to see people riding their horse down Main St. They still do it today. Its not a bad thing at all, but if someone grew up in a city and came and saw it they'd probably think they had traveled back in time. Its pretty novel actually. I'm not saying people rode their horses to and fro, but people on the edge of town owned horses and regularly rode them in town on their "weekend rides."

Happens a lot in western Nebraska. When I travel out that way I love to see that sight.

I'm Reading all this negative remarks about Ravenna. I just don't see it. I have two aunts and a cousin who currently reside in Ravenna. In October, I was there for a month. I totally enjoyed every minute of it. I spent a bit of time outside on the porch, Just Relaxing. I watched the town all commute to the ball fields to watch the school football games. I couldn't believe the town support, It was awsome. One day I watched an officer stop and talk to a group of teens, just casual conversation and before he left he went to the trunk of his car and pulled out Mardi Graw beads and gave them to them. Before he left he told them to have fun and don't get into trouble. I think that the interaction with the town kids is amazing. As for the town smelling like cheese, well, I never smelled anything but fresh air. I really enjoyed the laid back enviornment. The People were friendly, and although small towns may have some cliquiness, Most towns do, but I never felt the effects of that while I was there. I think they should try living in Las Vegas, the people are rude, always in a hurry and Pushy. Not to mention the kids here with their Little Gangster attitude. I'm planning to go back to Ravenna real soon. I'm also hoping to relocate there in the near future. Oh and as far as Welfare, It's a Million times worse here, they draw welfare while dealing drugs and have Mecedes in there driveway. The Crime and Violence is unreal, non-stop. I'd take Ravenna in heartbeat!!!!!!!!!

Wink Sorry to bump this old thread!

Any new info on Ravenna? Been looking all over the US for a nice little place for us to move to and this town is making it to my list.

Any bad things to mention?

We homeschool, I stay at home with the kids and work online and my husband can do any kind of labor or manufacturing job. We're a family a six with some cats and a dog. Sound like a good fit at all?
