Thanks!
We have over 200 golf courses in a state with a population of only 2 million, and many of them are very nice, affordably priced public courses. The main season is from about April 1 to September 20, but it all depends on the weather. Depending on the course, you can golf all winter if there's no snow and it's a warmer winter day. It all depends on how cold and wet the winter is.

You said your child is 2--when my boys were really tiny we spent winter days doing things like organizing play dates with friends (MOMS club and others will help your family meet other couples with young children), went to the Children's museum or an indoor playground, went to theatrical performances for little people, went to the library for story hour, etc--pretty much what you'd do with younger children anywhere. If it's not brutally cold and there's snow, it's always fun to go sledding or play outside. When they get a little older, youth sports are huge in the midwest. Whether you participate through the YMCA, your local school, or on a select club team that you try out for, most kids are involved in some kind of sport, music lessons, etc. in the winter from Kindergarten thru high school to keep them busy and involved--we have lots to offer inside because it's a cold climate. In addition to sports, my kids liked to ice skate, go on group roller skating parties, etc. Local 4-H clubs are active in the winter, and lots of the urban clubs focus on everything from robotics to art and design vs. the traditional agricuture agenda. If you belong to a christian church, many of them have youth activities on Wednesday evenings from preschool through high school. If you belong to a different faith group, I know some of those groups, like the local synagogues, also have youth fellowship programs (not sure about the rest).

Thanks for the info MB. Glad to hear I'll be able to get some decent golf in anyway. Quick question about rentals. What will it cost to get a decent 2 bedroom rental? Looking for something in a nice enough area. Doesn't have to be downtown Lincoln.

Cheers.

I have absolutely no idea on the cost of rentals in Lincoln or anywhere else--sorry. Maybe someone else has a better idea. My suggestion is that you contact a real estate agent in the area (we've always had good luck with woods bros.) and ask there. Google is your best friend in a relocation--we've relocated many times over the years before we moved back to Nebraska (home), and you'll find that type of information yourself much more quickly and easily than asking here. If you google "apartments for rent lincoln nebraska" you'll get pages and pages of listings. Price usually depends on location and how big, new and nice the apartment is.

You can rent almost anywhere short term because you don't need to worry about school districts yet. One advantage of Nebraska is that we also have option enrollment in our public schools. If you want to live in one school district but have your children attend in another, you can apply to the school where you want to attend (by a deadline each year) and if approved by the school (based on available space and other criteria) your child can attend that school free of charge--there's no fee for going outside of your own district.

Good luck.

Some of the NICER apartment complexes offer two bedroom with about 900+ Sq/ft for $600 to $750. Broadband cable with basic TV at TWC will run about $85/month but there are several other options for the Internet. Electricity is cheap with taxes and service fees usually adding up to $30/month and then $.06 per KWH for actual use. Natural Gas heating is cheap but I am all electric in my place. Water & sewage is usually included in your rent but if you own your home it runs about $30 (my sister pays that on her home). Trash pickup $20/month but may be included in rent.Telephone service is variable. I get by great with Magic Jack, Skype and a $25/month cell phone for 200 minutes.
