Wyatt Earp Boulevard, Dodge City Reconstruction Project Update on Dobson Brothers-General Contractor

The reconstruction project is now one month past due on the completion date of July 8th.

The south half of the Fourth Avenue and Wyatt Earp Boulevard intersection will be closed for reconstruction. The reconstruction of the Fourth Avenue intersection is schedule to take two weeks, weather permitting, and should reopen to traffic around Aug. 17. With this intersection closed, residences and businesses not directly adjacent to the construction area are still accessible via Trail Street.
Dobson Bros. will again open the 11th Avenue intersection while work is being completed at the Fourth Avenue intersection. Since not all of the concrete pavement is in place, temporary surfacing will be installed to open the intersection. After the Fourth Avenue intersection is completed, this intersection will be closed once again so that reconstruction may be completed.

The contractor will continue placing concrete from Seventh to Second avenues in the center lane periodically over the next few weeks. During the time that concrete is being placed in the center lane, Wyatt Earp Boulevard will be limited to one-lane traffic along the concrete placement. Flagmen will be in place to direct traffic. Expect delays of up to 15 minutes on Wyatt Earp Boulevard near the placement location. If at all possible, use alternate routes during the concrete placement.

The contractor will continue placing the sidewalk and driveways along the south side of the project. They will also be filling in sections of the mainline that were left out.

The south half of the Seventh Avenue intersection will be closed for reconstruction in the next couple of weeks. Normal access to McDonald’s and Sonic will be restricted.

Access will be maintained to ALL BUSINESSES on both sides of Wyatt Earp Blvd. Temporary drives will be constructed for the businesses where needed.

Wyatt Earp Boulevard reconstruction update

Completion Date: July 8th, 2007 Today's date: September 1st, 2007

Due to a mechanical breakdown of the striping machine, the installation of the traffic markings has been delayed until the week of Sept. 3. Traffic will be moved to the two outside lanes on Tuesday so the center lanes can be striped. The contractor and city request drivers be cautious when making left hand turns on Wyatt Earp Boulevard while the striping procedure is being completed. Drivers need to be aware of construction workers and construction equipment in the center lanes of Wyatt Earp Boulevard. Drivers will also need to be cautious and not drive over or through freshly painted traffic markings. The paint will more than likely get on your vehicle or tracked across the street.

The contractor will also be finishing a few minor items and cleaning up the project in preparation of opening the roadway in the very near future.

Default Dobson Brothers Construction Co vs. the World

Dobson Brothers Construction Co vs. the World

Lawsuits in Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska.

This has not been a good year for Dobson Brothers of Lincoln, Nebraska. They have lawsuits in Oklahoma from their last DOT project in that state. They have lawsuits in Garden City, Kansas where they did not pay their suppliers for concrete and other materials.

They have over 12 lawsuits in Dodge City, Kansas due to not paying their bills and as of September 7th, 2007, Dobson Brothers is now suing their own insurance company, ILLINOIS UNION INSURANCE COMPANY that provides their general liability and other insurance coverage. (Nebraska US Federal Court. Case #4:07-cv-03219-DLP)

Why, because Dobson Brothers screwed up the mix design on a lot of asphalt paving to the tune of $375,000 plus and Dobson Brothers wants their insurance company to pay for Dobson Brother’s design mistake. Needless to say, ILLINOIS UNION INSURANCE COMPANY told Dobson Brothers NO. So to court they both go.

You have to wonder when will this end?

This is not the first time that Dobson Brothers has had problems, screw ups and tried to sue their own insurance company to cover Dobson Brothers mistakes

The following suit was lost by Dobson Brothers in that Dobson Brothers lost the claim and was out at least $75,000.00 in legal costs in tying to to sue their insurance company.
