Default Rental Properities

Question on the laws for people that have properties that are being rented. Do they need to claim them as income?

Yes income, but expenses also.
Being a landlord is the same as owning a business.
Of course if you only have one rental property (one customer)
you could probably not file it and get away with it.
Of course if you are ever audited the single payment to your checking account
every month for the same amount will definitely raise a red flag.
