Awesome info... can tell just from threads that the people in NE are helpful
If the move happens for us, we'll be coming with two large golden retrievers in hand. Hopefully, I'll be revisiting this thread again next year to look for a place that will accept us with our large dogs.

I hear the northern part of lincoln is an area to stay away from. Now ive had little to no luck looking on Zillow and no luck with the Lincoln news paper.

Im looking at the $1000 a month range but i just cant find anything. Moving is not stressful but the thought of possibly lossing my animals is freaking me out haha. Any help is appreciated would really like a house but will settle for anything, i know that highpoint app. are pet friendly i just dont know how many they accept.
Hey Wink86 - Seeing you've lived in FL and NE.. would you mind comparing the two for me?? We currently live in Apollo Beach, a suburb outside of Tampa and I am applying for a job in Lincoln... so just curious about the place and how it compares to FL. Thank you!!!!!!!!!

Well to compare FL to NE........I love both states for very different reasons....But for me in late teens early 20s id pick FL but now 25 id take NE anytime.

First and foremost Traffic is 1000 time better no more stand still traffic on I4. The weather is beautiful during the summer, people here tend to complain about it but i love it, on the i moved here when it was the hottest week of summer in July and me and my wife sat out on the porch all day after moving just enjoying it. Humidity is not as high here, the wife likes it because her hair doesnt stand up everywhere from humidity. Also though as a co worker pointed out this has not been a very windy year so that may change next year. Now im not really like the cold nor do i look forward to my vechile getting rusty but the weather in the Spring and summer will make up for itl.

Take the car off on some gravel road and get lost and you will see some of the most beautiful land scape and the best sun rises and sun sets. If you enjoy the out doors id take NE only thing that is horribly horribly missed is fishing the inlet-outlets to the ocean on the boat....if you have never been a boat person then no worries.

You will be flipping less people off on your daily drives haha, and when entering the highway, were in FL it was a race for the person on the highway to get in front of you before you get on, here most people are conditioned to move over to let people on (think mostly because Semi will force you if you dont). I do miss the beach and the seafood but NE makes up for it in the fresh veggies.

Not get me wrong i love FL too but the things stated above are improvements. I do worry about when i have kids that they wont be as exposed to the melting pot of culturals that FL has but Lincoln has a decent amount here with the college but else were not so much.

There is more but no time lol ask away with questions....unless your alrdy here then enjoy.....If your looking i do know a place to rent right now thats open for big dogs.

If you're looking for a pet-friendly place to rent in Lincoln, we rent at place called Springs at Heritage Lakes. They have 2 fenced dog parks and laminate flooring that is pet-friendly. The place was new in Aug 2012 and we pay $1200/mo for a 1300 square foot 3 bedroom w/ $55 of "pet rent" (yeah, lame i know). The management is friendly and the apartments are in great condition. We are purchasing a house so are moving out this month so I know there is at least 1 three bedroom available!
