Default Move to Wood River?

We are planning to move to Wood River, NE soooon. You like W.R. or not? And do we have to worry about living in a flood plain?

You are to far from the Platte River unless they have a 10,000 year flood. The small Wood River that is just north of Wood River will go out of it's banks at times and flood the streets of Wood River, but nothing major.

Here is a link to all of the County Floodplain Mangers in Nebraska. Wood River is in Hall County so find Hall County and contact them to check on the floodplain issue for Wood River. Good luck.

My in-laws live in Wood River. They like the proximity to Grand Island and the lower cost of living there. My father in-law is blind and they have had many wonderful people in the town that help them out. On the flip side they are worried about the new ethanol plant making the town smell (it is literally on the edge of town) and for a while the school system was really bad (many people including them went to home school) but is improving. This is the information I get from them, I personally haven't lived there. Also I don't know about the flood plain, but there is a street there they call flood street (I believe it is 11th st) because any time it rains it will collect water pretty bad. A couple years ago the area got a 12 inch rain in a short amount of time, pretty nasty flooding, but obviously not a common occurence and not many places can handle that rain.
