I am moving to Lincoln from NYC next month, so my good folks , how is the bus service? is the Bus Service uni-directional or both directional?

if you want to get to/from downtown, bus service is pretty good as long as it's before about 6 pm (or Sunday)

if you want to go anywhere else, it's pretty much useless

Wow, NYC to Lincoln is quite the move. In my limited experience, I agree with the previous poster about the bus service. Downtown to somewhere is okay. However, if you want to go from your apartment to another part of town, it's terrible because you have to switch buses.

I didn't think anyone would have the balls to do that. I certainly don't. Best of luck to you.

Reid,
Welcome to Lincoln. NYC is a great place to visit but Lincoln is a great place to live and raise a family.
To answer your question about Bus Service in Lincoln: It is vary basic and cannot be depended on to get you everywhere at any time like you are used to in NYC. However Taxi service is fair and with recent opening up to competition rates are coming down and service is improving. If you know how to drive and own a car you will be pleasantly surprised. Compared to driving in NYC Lincoln is a piece of cake. My main mode of transportation is a motorcycle and having stuff delivered when the weather is too nasty. But then I am retired and if I don't want to or need to go I stay home until I can.

A bicycle used to be my preferred transportation until physical problems put an end to that.

Welcome to our city! One of my closest friends is from NYC and he likes living here. Like others have mentioned, the bus service is fine downtown, but outside of downtown it's not terribly convenient.

Like others have mentioned, the city bus service is very limited. A car would be your best option, but here's the website for bus transit. It might do you some good if you know where you'll be living in Lincoln.

Gonna be some serious culture shock both ways lol. Best of luck and be very laid back for a while when you get to Nebr. cause east coast folks talk loud and fast from my experiences. Don't act tough, cause you will find out your not pretty quick in a Nebr. saloon. Enjoy the clean air and the sunshine.
