I third that (?), my Grandma lives in the huge metropolis of Almeria and enjoy meals at Uncle Bucks in Brewster.

Aurora is the best, of course I think that I grew up there, but it really does have a lot of great attributes. It's one of the few small(just under 5,000) farm towns in Nebraska that are thriving and growing. It's about 20 minutes to G.I. for shopping and only an hour and a half or less to Lincoln. It's filled with many amazing people and much more diversity within it's people than you would expect to find in a town of it's size. The people that make up Aurora care about their community, the history and the future. It's a place you can be proud to say you come from, and a place that you long to return to once you've grown and had children of your own. Ahh, if only I hadn't married that east coast boy, lol....

I've lived all over the state. My favorite "big" town is Chadron. My favorite little town is Dunning.
But as has been said, "best" is in the eye of the beholder.

What's the basic scoop on Scottsbluff and the surrounding area? I'm narrowing my choices to possibly move to and it looks like I'd like it there.

Not a specific town, but a region: The late Charles Kuralt called Nebraska’s Highway 2 "one of America’s 10 most beautiful highways" exclaiming, "This road will take you to one of the last unexplored frontiers where vast treasures can be discovered."

What is the BEST town in Nebraska?
I lived in Kearney for several years awhile back, and found it to be a very pleasant town. The college definitely adds some "spice" to the mix. And I've always had a soft spot for Scottsbluff, even though I've never lived there - just passed through. It's in a very scenic setting and seems like a nice town. Folks I know who've lived there always had good things to say about it.

Thank you tpabes. I knew of two of the 3 links but it's good info. I'm really leaning toward getting out there maybe next year and seeing the area for myself.
