Hello,

So I just took a job in Scottsbuff, NE. I have never visited, so I dont know anything about the place. Nor can I find any apartments. With the move so close, I am slowly starting to become more stressed. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any apartments. I am trying to find lower priced one bedrooms. I have a dog (50lbs) and cat. Speaking of dogs, I am also trying to get a feel for the outdoor life there. We are coming from Colorado Springs and are surrounded with places to go on hikes and adventures. My dog and I love being outside. So, are there many places we can go?
I am excited for the move, but worried because I have no clue what I am getting into! HELP!

Use google maps and search for [Scottsbluff Neb] / once you see the map of the city - then type in [apartments] and you'll see where everything is located. There's a good list of them, I'm providing only a partial list here.

Thank you so much! That is kind of what I have been trying. It is hard to find pictures and prices. I will have to start calling though!

You might try contacting the Scottsbluff chamber of commerce. They may have more information that could help with relocating there and finding an apt.

Try also padmapper.com (great site) first, then Craigslist.

My husband and I are thinking of relocating to Scottsbluff from Omaha and I am terrified! The job opportunity is great though, I am a therapist and Omaha is completely saturated right now. The smallest city I have ever lived in was Kearney. I am just nervous about relocating to a smaller community.

Just a little advice. Don't rent anything online sight unseen. I did that (only once) in May and I'm very unhappy with my apt. Pictures even on Craigslist never tell the whole story. I also use padmapper (not much luck though). I'm driving (or flying via Denver) in Spring '16 to check things out. I'm looking forward to getting back to the "dry air." Good luck.

Scottsbluff is intriguing. It seems way more of a "Western" city than a "Midwestern" city.

Well it IS a "Western city." It's even in the Mtn time zone for greater relevance. What makes it so for me is the air. I've lived in all "4 Corner" states and spent the last 30+ years out West. I posted a reply earlier: "Where East meets West" and I can tell you when you have lived in semi-arid (desert) states VS humid states you lose much of your energy as I did when returning to MN: a HUGE mistake. So it is more than "intriguing": it is very factual IMO.

Default Moving to Scottsbluff NE

I won't change the thread name but hope this brings some replies: What is the "City Center" of Scottsbluff NE bounded by? IE, if I wanted to be within shopping/walking distance of say Target, Safeway food et al, the mall, coffee shops, fast food and/or diners, Western NE college....where would be a good central location for living near those commercial items? I know I can map these commercial businesses but it never hurts to ask the locals here at City-data. Thanks.
