What would you like your town to have?
Any stores, restaurants etc... that you would love to come to Nebraska or more specifically your town?
I would love to see a Cracker Barrel and a Petsmart come to the Tri-cities, and a Black-Eye Pea and California Pizza Kitchen, anywhere in Nebraska (most likely Omaha).

A store in Sarpy County (Papillion or LaVista) solely devoted to selling products made in Nebraska. That store owner could build a network with all the folks in Central and Western Nebraska that make their own things on the farm/ranch (or in town) to sell and supplement their income. This metro store could be a place all of those folks consign to. Help the metro area support the rest of the states entrepenuers and give those folks that have a single product idea a place to initially market their product for little cost.

Tpabes,
I'm pretty sure Omaha already has a California Pizza Kitchen. In fact, I think I've eaten there. Its in the area of 103rd and Pacific.

Are we just limited to Restaurants and stores?
I would like to see Omaha put in rail system linking Downtown to west Omaha.
Maybe have express trains from different stations that run straight non stop to downtown during the rush hours.
Or if that is not doable have MAT Buses do some better marketing and add more bus lines to the downtown area from west O. I cannot remeber the last time I seen a MAT BUS commercial on TV.
For Omaha, taking the bus is looked at as a poor man's mode of transportation. Now with gas hitting 3.00 + a gal. we are going to have to do more changes.

Thanks guys, can't believe I missed that. They have a cajun pizza I really like. I go by the area all the time, it must be in that same plaza as Ruby Tuesday's?

What I would like to see..
Omaha is further ahead than cities twice its size for entertainment, top quality resteraunts and top paying jobs..
What I would like to see is:
1.A large-scale amusement park and entertainment district near Ashland along the three rivers area, that area is prime and keen for entertainment..
2. An emphasis on mass-transit, especially some type of light rail, this would reduce traffic currently and reduce future headaches, this would be an investment for the city that would pay off..
3. An I880 loop around Omaha and the sarpy county cities.. I understand that mass transit is very important, however OMaha has grown way past the i-680 loop and this is becoming critical..
4. I would love to see more research parks, this city is well past most cities its size in this category, but the greedy (myself ) want more!
5. I would like to see the North Omaha Redevelopment project that has already seen $300,000,000 worth of redevelopments and soon to be, take off even more.
6. I would like to see North downtown become an urban enclave of residential/retail/entertainment/restaurants.. and the current downtown area attract some of the coporations out in west Omaha to build in this area..
7. I would like the city to pretty much keep doing what it is doing, with a population of 1.2 million between Omaha and Lincoln. They have accomplished way more than most cities of this size, asking for more really is a bit greedy, however, at the same time we should never just sit as we may quickly fall behind..

I actually got this idea from a the world herald who did a poll a while ago. I can't access the archives because I'm not a subscriber, but if I remember right, things like Trader Joes, CostCo (which has since came) and some upscale clothing stores were high on the list. I hope Omaha does get another loop, guess we will see when the research is done. Good to see a couple for light rail, I'd say take it clear to Lincoln as well. If we only had the $$$. To replace my Pizza Kitchen restaurant, how about a Hard Rock or Joes Crab Shack into the old market?
