My fingers will be crossed hoping we get to go there! Thanks!

MomLady,
I have talked to several of the Security people that work at the Nuclear plant near Blair. They (IBEW) are negotiating a new contract currently but since they are not allowed to strike there shouldn't be any work stoppages. The big complaint among the security staff that I hear is the shift rotation. They cannot bid an assigned shift right now, instead they rotate every four weeks. They have been getting tons of overtime and I have seen some fairly large paychecks. If you can get work there and not have to commute more than a few minutes it is a great place to work from what I have heard.

We are stationed in Ballston Spa at the Navy site. Its near Saratoga Springs, though we actually live in Glenville, just north of Schenectady.

I don't know if you moved yet or not. But Blair is a very nice town. I lived in Omaha for 35 years and then my husband talked me into moving to the country. I was very hesitant to do so. But I did and I love it. Wouldn't move back. We aren't in Blair itself. We live in Lakeland Estates it is a little community with a lake swim beaches and it is very nice. Family orientated except for your few older people that don't like young kids riding ATV, & Motorcyles. In every community you have your rotten apples. But it is very quit and you can fish, canoe. Alot of fun for the kids. I don't believe that Blair would be annex it is to far away from Omaha proper. Also, if your husband will be at the Nuclear plant you can take the back roads and be there in no time.

Default I live in Blair

I had to laugh when I read the post about moving to Blair.

Ive lived in Blair for 15 years. Originally from Omaha :-)

We have 3 wonderful children and love the community.
Everyone is really nice, the schools are class A and Omaha is
only a short 30 mins away.

As for the power plant, we live nearby and we dont
see our skin changing colors yet- ha ha

Blair is a wonderful community. Hopefully
you will get to move here and enjoy the pleasures
of small town living. BTW... Blair is about 7000 people.

I no longer live in Blair. I am grown and have my own children. I have lived all over the world and still think of Blair as home. I grew up there and still have family there. The schools are great! The sports are great! You are right it is close enough to Omaha for major shopping and culture, but please if you move there try to patronize the local businesses. They and the people who run them are the reason Blair is so great. You won't regret your move.
