Davey, Nebraska in 1962 (Omaha, Lincoln, Wahoo: 2015, area, company)

In '62, Davey wasn't a city nor a town but a community. I was sent there to validate the Nike Hercules guided missile launching area check procedures. From what I could see, Davey was grain elevator, a general store, and a café, where breakfast was served on a platter, not a plate. A big cured ham steak, three eggs, hash browns, and biscuits with gravy could be had for $1.50. I was 25 years old then. I'm about to turn 78 in October 2015. Maybe there's someone still around who remembers the little café and can recall what Davey was like in 1962.

Davey is located about 10 miles north of Lincoln on U.S. 77, I don’t remember ever being out there in that area. I do remember the other missile location at Mead between Wahoo and Omaha. I’d love to enjoy that kind of breakfast today but it’s hard to find a mom ‘n pop café anymore.

Worked at the Mead missile base in the early 60's. Purged the company name and was my only missile project. Got married in 1960.
