Smile I need a good mechanic in Lincoln!!

Hi there! I am currently living in Lincoln, and I have been for almost my whole life. However, being a woman with a husband, 2 brothers and a father, I've never had to worry about getting a good mechanic. I am now in need of a recommendation. I will be taking my mini-van in for some routine (overdue) maintenance. Currently, my husband is living out of state and I need to make sure that our van is ready to drive 1800 miles to Washington State by the end of March.

Can someone please recommend a mechanic that will not rip me off just because I'm a woman who knows NOTHING about vehicles? I need to get an alignment and tune up and fix anything else that needs to be done to make the long trip in March. I plan to have my brothers do my brakes and possibly my power steering pump.

Sorry this is so long, I just want to make sure I'm not going to get ripped off!! Thanks so much!!

John's Auto Service, 12th & Saunders. It doesn't look like much, but its a local, family owned place that doesn't rip people off (at least not in my experience). I'm a male though, so take from that what you will.

Watson's Autoservice at 33rd and Cornhusker area. Its a small owner but he's very honest. I actually grew up with him in our small little home town. He just opened up his own shop a few months ago and would love the business. He isn't a "big company" and won't hassle you. If you go there tell him "Poulsen" sent you...he'll know who it is.

I have had good luck with Gates Automotive at 27th and F st. They don't have all the diagnostic eqipment to work on fuel injection and computerized systems that the authorized dealers do but for every day maintainence like brakes, mufflers, shocks etc. they do quality work and are reasonably priced.
