One?
Mama brings her 8 pullets up to water in the morning. Funny, my neighbors don't eat wild turkey, and they said to go for as many as I want. I may get 2 or three of the eight for the freezer, and let the rest make it thru the winter for next year. Ah luv me sum turkey... and I eat it all year long!
Hope to make it to the river next weekend to get some fall color pictures; with the projected temps in the 20s next week they should really start popping. The red sumac and gold maples are already in full swing.
It is so lovely here...

I might suggest you make sure you pick up a permit. And I have found with the wild variety of turkey. I filet the breasts, save the legs and thighs for soup. If you save the wings for me whole with feathers, freeze them I will make you something special out of them.
Then we will have to meet up for that cup of coffee.

Here is a portion of the flock that hits our hay meadow pretty much every evening. We have counted over 100 at a time out there. In the mornings the groups down around 20-30 at a time. I do believe the turkey population is doing well around.

Wow, Guru, are you a wildlife artist, too?
Wild turkey feathers are so pretty. I'm going to try to save as many as I can. The ones back east were grey... just grey. Ugh.
Thanks for the advice on the permit; I have been all over the webpage and even emailed the NE Wildlife people, but I couldn't get a straight answer as to when, where, etc. Their Hunting instructions read like stereo instructions - translated loosely from Japanese. Guess I'll go down to the Lock Stock and Barrel to get my stuff this weekend. :-))
