I guess I'm not getting the context in which you asked the question.
Hmm, were they leaders? No, slaves obviously weren't leaders, they weren't allowed to be. Did they have leader type figures who fought for their civil rights? Umm, yes. Obviously??

You Lost the Point
The point is that it was the white people who were the leaders in our society in the beginning. Of course, slaves had no choice. But where have they gone in the 143+ years they've been freed? How many have risen to be leaders? Colin Powell was a leader but he wimped out and let Bush run all over him. There were the Civil Rights activists and they certainly helped the black population of our country. But what did they do for the country as a whole? I'm not a racist. I've had a number of educated black bosses and also friends. If black people want to rise to be leaders, they have to get an education, learn to speak properly, pull up their pants so their cr**ks don't show (men), stay with their kids (men), and in general show more strength. Barak Obama will be a fine example of what a black man should be. Of course, please don't forget that he is HALF white. Bill Cosby is another fine example of a black man. Follow his lead and you'll do well.
Instead of always being on the defensive and nasty name calling, black people need to use their energy to better themselves and also our country!

Hey, I don't disagree that the black culture has degenerated in very recent generations. And that is exactly what it is, recent generational culture that has ultimately formed negative opinions about blacks in society.
It just seemed to me that you are insinuating that they are somehow genetically inferior to whites or are not entitled to become leaders in this country.
Idk, I guess I don't think the way this conversation has turned has much of a point anyway.
We can also say the same about our generation of white people. I think our culture in general has raised a very large portion of deadbeats.

I'm NOT insinuating blacks are genetically inferior. And actually I'm saying they need to improve themselves enough so that they CAN be leaders. I'm saying many have not tried to raise themselves up. Granted that is not easy, but many do not try. Lots of folks are brought up with very hard childhoods. That is not an excuse not to try. Look at Barak Obama. He did it. Granted he has an extremely high IQ, but others can do as well as they can with what they have.
And I agree about a large portion of deadbeats of all colors in the U.S. today, certainly including whites. This culture is spoiling its children and they are not learning to be self-reliant, courteous, or innovative. Some scholars say it is the "hippie" effect. Those hippie parents of the 60's were lax with their kids and it went downhill from there. Ah, but that's another thread!
Goodnight gentlemen. We can all agree to disagree!

If they are at least allowed to work and be documented that will help to establish some record on them and their families instead of people getting by cheap and paying them cash under the table keeping them untracable to the government and law enforcement.

DTO, you are an idiot and your ideals are what has caused the crisis we now live with. Laws are laws. If you had to live in the sewer you might try to crawl out. Then again, maybe you like it there.

I'm all for enforcing the rules we have but it's gotten to the point now that we have other problems to deal with. Rounding everyone up and sending them back to get in again isn't going to solve anything.

Laws aren't laws when they're not being enforced.

There's a big difference between assimilating and becoming part of the country. And thinking your better or above everyone else. Just some quick life game for you son.

I believe those who are here and already working (haven't met a lazy Hispanic yet!) should be granted the right to citizenship. As for having lots of babies, many Hispanics are Catholic, not trying to milk any system. Also, Hispanics are very family oriented...we could learn from them!
When the meat packing plants were raided last year around Christmas, it was devastating. Those poor little kids went home to no parents, no Christmas, no home. Are you aware that when many Hispanics buy a home, they pay cash? Cash they earned here in the US? And when he is deported, what do you think happens to that home? That vehicle?
It's not the Hispanics who are milking anyone and it's not the Hispanics who took flight lessons and entered huge airplanes with the sole purpose of killing Americans. All they want to do is work. If you've ever been to Mexico, you'd know why.

Then let them come here LEGALLY!! As long as they are here illegally, they are criminals and should be treated as such. You can try to deny that illegals are a major cause of crime but it's truth. No racism at all just the facts. And it isn't only Hispanics though most people think of them when it comes to illegal immigrants.
Oh, by the way, I have met many lazy Hispanics. Do you personally know any Hispanics that buy houses with cash? Are they legal immigrants? there's no problem with legals only the illegal criminals.
