I was told Lincoln is a small town with friendly people. Now that I'm about to move there for a class, I see that it's much more populated than here in Springfield, MO.

Has anyone been to both towns? Will you tell me your view on the differences and similarities?

I usually try to seer clear of college towns because of the the crowds and traffic.

I'm 50 and will be renting.

Love ignore setting.... what an ignorant comment.

I have many friends from Nebraska, whomalso still live there. I have spent a lot of time there, and have never had a bad experience. Though I have never spent any lengthy time in Missouri (so I can't compare), I have to say I have never heard a bad word in regards to Lincoln.
For a city of its size I am impressed, and I wound not hesitate to move there, especially temporarily.

A friend in her 50s lives there now and has no complaints.

Default Thank you Simplepeace

Thank you. Your post came just in time. If I like it, I will be moving there and I hope to rent a small house with a fenced yard. I'll be leaving in a few days.

Thanks again!

I moved from Lincoln, NE to Springfield, MO in 2008. I was born and raised in Nebraska. I would say Lincoln is a little more big city than Springfield. The traffic flows really well in Lincoln except on football Saturdays. You will be amazed at how much red you will see in downtown Lincoln on those days. (I miss that)

While Lincoln is more populated it does not have the traffic coming into it from all the feeder cities like Springfield does. If you will be taking classes at UNL you will find UNL is a small city in itself. Enjoy Lincoln!! If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them.

Default So Far, So Good

I like Lincoln. It's like most places I've been. Being single without kids, it's a little tough to meet people.

Not sure as I have not lived in Nebraska, but besides being much much colder, the culture will be different too probably since the part of Missouri you're from is culturally more aligned with the south in that part of Missouri compared to Nebraska.
