Moving To Bellevue! Any Suggestions
HEY! My husband and I are moving this March. We're thinking of moving to Bellevue since it's the closest to Offut,AFB. We've been looking for apartments online and it's been overwhelming, are there any apartments/condos that anyone would recommend that is in a safe and secured neighborhood, near shopping, etc. I would really appreciate ANY help-Thanks

Sarpy County area
The area has grown over the years and it’s hard to give you an exact location, however you’re looking for anything in Sarpy County, this would include towns of Bellevue and Papillion. You’ll want to avoid south Omaha area. Is your husband in the military? If so there maybe an agency at Offutt to help with housing relocation? You may want to check on websites for Offutt and see what you find; it would be nice if you could find military housing near the base.

It's probably too late. But there are Tregaron Ridge Townhomes that are really nice and you are only blocks away from the interstate so, you can get any where in the city quickly. good luck!

My family and I just moved to Bellevue because my husband got stationed at Offutt. If you're military, have you considered the privatized base-housing? We were a short-notice PCS and were able to get right into a house. It's close to the base and to shopping, schools, etc. We've been extremely pleased.

Take a look at Plattsmouth as well. It is not that far from Offutt AFB and it is not as big as Bellevue and Papillion. It is only about 8 to 10 miles south.

I lived at offutt for 10 years. Yeah, 10 years! Almost unheard of in the military. I went to Golden Hills Elementry and loved it from the time I was in kindergarten all the way through 6th grade and moved on to LaVista Jr High and then Papillion High School. I loved living in kpart housing. I drove through that area this past month and noticed that they are doing alot of renevating in that area and they are actually going to rent out some of the housing close to that area to civilians! I thought that was strange, but it sounds like they are renting them for about 1000 dollars a month.
If you would like to live outside of Bellevue, I live in Papillion now and just love it. Especially if you are raising kids and it is not far from Offutt. Good luck to you but I agree with another person, "stay away from South Omaha". Alot of crime and such. Not the place you want to be!!

I have lived in Nebraska for 25 years and 20 of them were in Bellevue. I am also an ex air force brat. I would say the safest area would be Old Town area. There is quick access to Offutt and Base Lake. There are several different apartments and a lot of houses for rent at reasonable rates. You also have the oppurtunity for your kids to go to either Bellevue schools which have excellent curricullums and after school activities.
