Windy and a tad wetter than most months. (can be in the form of snow in April)

Where are you coming from? warm ? cold? Dry? wet?

June, while wet, just might allow you to witness an awesome prairie thunderstorm.

Pioneer Village and the Windmill State park are some of my favorite places, But do come during State Fair if possible, just make sure it is not 'Transition Day' (Between Open Class and 4H) No ANIMALS!!! for a few days. That is a bummer when you fly in for one day to see a State Fair (BTDT), we only go to State Fairs to talk with and share with 4H kids, when you show up and there are none, it is not pleasant (Happened in Texas and Illinois also, as we attended many State fairs in one year.)

Minnesota State Fair is not to be missed (The "Minnesota Gathering"...)

Indiana was also a favorite.

I'm coming from Phoenix, AZ. I'm used to dry weather and dry heat. It sounds like April is a much better month to visit than February.

Extremely variable (especially early in the month, which is when you need to come if you wish to see the cranes).

Here’s info on Rowe Sanctuary’s Crane viewing for this year: https://rowe.audubon.org/crane-viewing. I don’t think anyone is offering Prairie Chicken tours this year. But next spring, if you come during the first week of April you will be able to see both.

Good decision!!

For the next week a two part cold front is coming down from the north and it is going to be cold cold cold! And it will cover a wide area of mountain and plains states as well.

I have a good friend who lives south of Roswell, New Mexico and I talked to him last night. This weekend the temps over there will take a nosedive to five degrees!! YEOW!! I live in western Colorado-Mesa county. It won't get as cold over here as say, Denver, but the temps will top at 30 to 35 and the lows will be around 20.

I think mid-April to early May would be ok. I have good friends in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area that I visit (not in this past year) and I always enjoy a good old fashion heartland storm, minus tornadoes of course. Where I live we only average a little over six inches of moisture for the year and last year with the fire situation we only wound up with a little more than four inches.

I plan to go in early April after Easter. Flights in the summer are double the credit I have.

I would highly recommend coming to Grand Island in February. I have a friend in SE Arizona that has never seen snow that lasts more than two or three hours. I have recommended he come to Omaha where I live to experience some cold and snowy weather. He hasn't taken me up on it yet. Chicken!

But if you come it would probably be an experience you would never forget. Hopefully you could experience a Nebraska blizzard. Don't be a chicken. Try it!

Good travels!

I love these documentaries. I never knew anything about the the WWII angels from North Platte, NE. What wonderful people at the time.

There is another Grand Island. A real island in the middle of the river between Buffalo NY and Niagara Falls.
