Thanks tpabes!! I got an ice cream cake for 'now', a case of Propel water for the trip to NE, and a book on butchering, smoking, and recipes for venison for after we get there... What a great kid!

Told hubby he didn't have to buy me anything on this day - he got me, to quote Peanuts' Lucy - "what I really want. Real Estate!" - 60 acres in NE!

Default ..

wow! 60 acres, that's awesome SCG! Just thinking about owning that much land out in that area gets me thinking about taking a look in that area!

I swear, as a web/database programmer, if I could work from home, I would put serious consideration into moving to that area of Nebraska myself.

I envy you..

Talking Always Live Your Dreams...

Well, there's quite a bit available from time to time. We were looking for over a year before we found our 'perfect spot'. There was another one on my Valentine realtor's page in Merriman - about the same size - but they pulled it for now. It might come up again. We used all sorts of webpages to look around, landsofamerica, landandfarm... I even hung out on Zillow's discussion boards and went to their webpages too. Of course you do realize that 60 acres isn't considered "big" by ANY means out there, right? What would you do with 60 acres? Hunt? Raise a few head of cattle? Have a garden? or just sit and watch the world go by?

As a web/database programmer, couldn't you in reality work mostly from home as long as you had good internet service, maybe even satellite service? Or do you have to market yourself too? You know, the town of Cody itself doesn't have a webpage... grin. A lot of the smaller towns don't... I like to design my own webpages but am just a tinker at it. And I have seen some really professional webpages for some ranches and small businesses that I will be using for supplies and so forth... but many don't have them, don't know that they need them... Some even have their animals' pedigrees posted for breed lines, etc. with pictures for purchase by interested parties.

PS I am not just a mom but a muse - I inspire a lot of people to do things they normally wouldn't dream of or think possible... Watch Out!!! hee hee.
