It's about as cold here in beautiful Ord-vegas.. lol We should be done with the snow by early Monday morning, but it'll be colder then a witches tit in a brass bra all week!
My beagle doesnt like snow at all.. and he's not too thrilled with the cold either.

I could not get my car unlocked when leaving the mall last night, I spent only about 10 minutes out side. When I got inside it took over a hour for my hands to quit hurting, I was in so much pain I could not even drive for about a half hour. I just sat in my car and shook. I never really took the weather serious. I guess I can say I have been spoiled for assuming that my car would always be ready to go. As of last night I am taking the weather more serious, and I will be going out tonight and buying extra gloves and a few extra blankets.
This morning my right thumb is still sore to the touch and I still have some tingling in my right hand. It still bothers me that I was outside for just that short amount of time and the toll it took on me.

lisalynn, buy some lock deicer too. You can buy them in little cans that easily fit in a coat pocket. Hope your hands feel better!

Well, we were kinda worried about how our "southern dogs" would take to the weather. Even though the Afghan was bred to run the mountains of Afghanistan, and deal with snow and sand equably, she was born and raised in - Florida. She has taken to the winter cold and snow like a duck to water, though!! It is so exciting for her here; she is much more lively, leaps and bounds and plays like never before. She loves to run, head up and face into the wind, even last night when the wind chill was -33! The spaniel/shepherd cross is much closer to the ground, and he is 16 and not very fond of change. He, too, however, runs like a pup in the wind! He doesn't really like snow; but is resigned to it; both of them come in and spend 10 minutes biting the ice from between their paw pads... just like they spend time in the summer biting out the sand burrs.
You can be frostbitten in 10 minutes once the wind chill takes it below 0. We learned that when we skiied in ID. Full-face ski masks, or a hat pulled low and a scarf wrapped high, and HD ski gloves are vital in this type of cold, with or without the wind. I am not ashamed to wear long johns, two pairs of pants, two heavy shirts, and two pairs of socks with HD ski boots... I even have a pair of battery operated sox! When we were in ID it was common practice to pull into a parking lot and see cars left running to keep them warm. We are not above doing it here. My truck was a little slow to start, as were many locally this AM. This is the time when you find out if your battery needs replacing, or your fan belt, or... everything seems to want to give up the ghost in this weather! I also noticed that, even without snow or ice, the brakes were a little slow to respond this AM - I can only assume that the brake fluid was pretty thick and sluggish at first, too. I'd rather let it sit and warm up and be late...

my dog, a 9 year old beagle... hates the weather.
When its cold like this, instead of dillydallying.. he just runs out, pees and runs abck in.
Rather then walking through the snow, he kinda leaps/hos.. and will jump over the curb, off the grass onto the pavement to avoid a snow pile.

Our Shih Tzu is exactly like your beagle Radiobroadcaster. In and out, although he doesn't mind snow. Its kind of funny, if there is a snow pile to pee on, he will go to the very top and pee on it. I like to think of it as his way to melt the snow.
Speaking of snow, we're looking at a few inches tommorow in my area.

As my friend once said when I made the comment about my beagle not wanting to hang out around outside when its cold,.. "Well, if you're thing hung out in the cold like that, you wouldn't wanna hang around outside either!"

My dog loves the snow, she stays out for VERY long times when there is snow, unless its very cold, then she hates it.

Got about 3-4 inches Tuesday. Not liking what I am hearing about freezing rain tommorow. Ever since the Ice Storm, I cringe when I hear freezing rain.
To bad it had to be crappy when Omaha is hosting the Volleyball Final Four. I'm sure they will still pack the house though.
