As long as it rains I feel safe, I really don't know why but I guess I hate that still feeling when the clouds are dark

The storm has reached Grand Island, the storm is expected to remain around full strength until across the Missouri River, we could have a repeat of 75, I really hope not though.

6:30 update, Tornado southwest of Grand Island and moving towards the city

Did this actually "sweep Nebraska?"
Or just the eastern half?

We've had bright, sunny skies all day. We're in a Watch for tonight, but nothing is in the sky, yet.
I see nothing in the panhandle. North Platte is clear as a bell. There seem to be storms in north central Cherry co, but that's as far west as any bad weather shows...

I think it fired up around Gibbon... so I think the western 1/2 missed it... right now from GI to Columbus moving the traditional east northeast...

Okay here is your update. I'm a lucky man, those nasty nasty clouds went about 10 miles to the north. The worst damage is in Kearney and on the interstate near Aurora. There is a power line over the interstate and several trucks blown over. In Kearney most of the expostion building at the fairgrounds is destroyed, the airport had damage including several airplanes, several roofs blown off, a 4 plex destroyed, several signs damaged, lots of power lines down and 12,000 without power in Kearney and 40 rail cars derailed west of Kearney. I might be missing something. I talked to my family and they were very luckily, just some tree limbs but the damage was all around them. Should note no injuries, so very thankful for that.

The Grand Island area seemed to escape damage although there were tornadoes spotted west of town. The cell is now in Seward county headed for Lincoln, hopefully it will weaken, but keep you eyes on the sky in eastern Nebraska.

Kearney had a little tornado damage but not people.

At this time its still about 90 minutes away from me, so will keep an eye out.

Listen Live to the Weather Emergency Radio (which is what I'm doing - need to know when to go outside with my camera - I love weather patterns - assuming everyone is safe).

It developed in the Frontier, Lincoln and Red Willow County area and went east from there.
