I would say not quite 6 inches here.
It's suprising... they made the decision to call off school today yesterday. I think it was premature and honestly I don't think that the snow is bad enough, but I'm not complaing. It's our first snowday of the school year.

We got about half an inch yesterday AM and then it melted... last night we got maybe 3/4 of an inch; just a little more than the night before. Yesterday our basketball games were cancelled because they cancelled school to the south of us; they had gotten two inches by 7 AM and were getting more.

Sigh. Oh well, the Bull Bash in Valentine is this weekend, at least there will be workable weather.

Looking at the weather forecast for the East Coast for today, tonight, and tomorrow, I'm glad we only got 2 inches of snow Friday night!

well most of central Nebraska is in a Tornado watch. Little storm going through now. Panhandle is getting hit pretty good with the blizzard.

Default The March 23 Blizzard

HOLY COW THIS IS AWESOME!!!

Started out with grey skies and 64 deg, balmy south wind. I was outside at noon, and suddenly - SUDDENLY - the wind changed and blew out of the North. By 2 pm it was 45 deg. There was thunder and we went under a tornado watch, then a warning as a tornado went thru Brownlee to the east and south (about 35 miles). Then the hail came, little pellets, no big deal. Then the wind really started ripping. At 2:45 it started to snow, fast and HARD, big wet flakes. The wind is up to 50 mph and the snow is ripping. The plow (God bless Matt Ford) waited on the highway for the last bus to leave school and preceeded them down the highway West to Merriman. It is still blowing viciously and snowing like CRAZY - whiteout conditions. It was fast moving and is very violent, don't be fooled.

This weather is just craziness!
Here, the tornado sirens went off for maybe 4 minutes. I barely had a chance to get the cats in the bathroom before they turned back off. In maybe 7 minutes the severe weather hit the southern tip of Lincoln and moved all the way through and was gone. Though, it mostly went AROUND Lincoln. It was beautiful but pretty anti-climatic. Those winds were nuts!!
Now it's peaceful, sunny and a wonderful 62 degrees outside.
Not looking forward to the cold weather coming up tomorrow and throughout this week. Boo! I want my 70 degrees!

lol, SCGranny. Your holy cow this is awesome comment made me laugh. Other than the one little thunderstorm is was pretty quiet except for the wind. Chance of a dusting of snow tonight. Looks like another system might move in by the end of the week. Welcome to early spring in Nebraska.
