Tornado Vortex Structure: Something you might hear on the WEATHER CHANNEL.
Thanks for the first two, I've heard the 'Derecho' term used on the Weather Channel before when it actually has sound. I have Comcast cable and it REALLY stinks out here, picture cuts in and out on almost all channels, the Weather Channels barely has sound anymore since they made us get a digital cable box, so I'd watch that channel more if I could actually hear them without having to turn my volume up to max, but then the commercials come on and then its just loud..so very very loud.

A derecho (from Spanish: "derecho" meaning "straight") is a widespread and long-lived, violent convectively induced straight-line windstorm that is associated with a fast-moving band of severe thunderstorms in the form of a squall line usually taking the form of a bow echo. Derechos blow in the direction of movement of their associated storms, similar to a gust front, except that the wind is sustained and generally increases in strength behind the "gust" front. A warm weather phenomenon, derechos occur mostly in summer, especially June and July in the Northern Hemisphere. They can occur at any time of the year and occur as frequently at night as in the daylight hours.
So yeah, that's what a Derecho is.

Ooooo....
I am LOVING this fall weather! It's a cool 59 degrees right now. The ONLY reason fall isn't my favorite season is because winter follows it. I LOVE snow, but I don't like it too cold.
They say this year is supposed to be bad.

I'd take cold snow over 4 solid months of rain and overcast skies that make you gloomy.

I LOVE rain. But, yeah after awhile it does get tiresome and a bit gloomy. I love snow, I'm just not a huge fan of driving when it's slick out. I wouldn't mind winter if streets came with automatic defrost.

True, but driving on streets that seem to be eternally wet for months at a time isn't much fun either. Our[CAL] rain is usually ALWAYS cold becomes it comes down from Alaska, and it gets blown everywhere and it goes down the back of your neck and it is not comfortable, Plus you can't build a rainman or have a rain ball fight.
