Like Matt and Dto have a clue as to anything that goes on in the rural parts of this state. Have they even spent five minutes there?....Too funny.

I've been in many, many small towns all over the state, in every county. I've met some extremely rude people, and have had some pretty bad food, but for the most part, people are very friendly and service and quality are great.
ya Iv had some bad food in the last year BUT for the most part it all good and nebraska has one of the onily FULL SERVIS gas stations left.

For me it has to be.....Laurel, Ne.

Why? We could not find a cafe' that was open at 1:30 p.m.. the truck stop was open, but who wants to eat there.
We ended up at the Pizza Ranch. that was a waiste of money. We had the buffet Which was old food that was there for a while. We asked if they could make some fresh pizza they said yes they would, but it took 45 minutes.

Also the poeple in town were very rude and unhelpful. Next time we are through that way we will just drive on by and stop at Hartington,Ne.

What are some of your worst towns you have been through?
Hmmmm.. The only place I've been thru in Nebraska where I really do not enjoy returning ... Omaha. A LOT of crime! Too much traffic! Reminds me too much of CA, eeeeek, we moved out to NE to get away from all that! Give me a nice, friendly, slow-paced town like nearly the rest of Nebraska and I'm perfectly happy!

Myst

Let's move onto a positive question: What are some of your favorite memories, events, or things about your favorite Nebraska town?

Default Thankfully each town is different

I stopped by the thread because I saw it had something like 10,000 responses and had to chk it out ... it seems a bit like a pointless discussion that only insults our terrific diversity. Thank God towns, people and the weather are all different from place-to-place. I live in Oregon, and I've driven across Nebraska (and countless others states in-between) to visit friends in the midwest several times in the past few years. I'm sure we've all had bad days, a bad meal or bad experiences. The rural U.S. has its own beauty - in people and culture - as do the cities, whether West Coast, east or yes, even California. It's not about who's "got religion" - or less or more crime, or better nightclubs, it's about celebrating and enjoying all that makes us different.

Shelton, NE.

Enough said, 2 Suicides (Thats only the kids) in the last 2 years. Multiple bomb threats at local school. Recent ENTIRE freshman class drank alcohol IN school. Teachers and Students gossip together, and since its a small town the gossip spreads very fast... Even if its a flat out lie. People will judge you by every single feature you have. Personality, looks, even your laugh. If they don't like it you, They will let you know. The cops are crooked too. Students and parents are no different. It's not "Abnormal" to see a bunch of kids going 60 MPH down the street drinking and fly by the cop and watch the cop do absolutely nothing.

It's pitiful.

Anyway my list of worse towns in Nebraska would go: Shelton, Gibbon, Kenesaw, Wood River, Grand Island.

We're from PA and traveled through NE on our way back from visiting Yellowstone. At Pioneer Village I was real nice and polite to the lady who I was trying to buy a Nebraska t-shirt from. She was really rude to me and I could never understand why. Now I think I do. After we got home we talked about the places we would want to visit again, on Nebraska the best rating we could come up with was neutral, nothing positive. We figured we probably wouldn't visit again.
