I've even had the pleasure of being invited to parties/gatherings at their Boys (& Girls) Town homes. So, if there's something bad happening here... they're doing a great job of hiding it, although I assume there's a considerable amount of discipline which is going to be required in running an operation such as this.
All that said... it's rather silly to include an -institution- such as Boys & Girls Town... in this comparison... 'mayor', police, firestation, post office, etc... or not.
Worst town in Nebraska? What's the point? Why define an entire town on a few bad experiences you've had with it's representatives?

I am talking about before house parent and i am releived to hear things may be better. true chidren need discipline. i did not go there as a delinquent i went there so my adoptive father could continue sexually abusing my sisters without the possibility of being questioned about family life as i was acting out as they say now. the couselors were single men. weekly review would result in spankings with a long paddle(you know the fraternity style hazing tool) for infractions such as talking in the dormitory. any protest or attempt at an explanation could result in a beatdown. two of my counselors were sexual predators one of them a failed semanarian. Nebraska has very short statue of limitation for these people but i have recently found federal laws that may reolve my purpose. I've tried counseling, alcohol, drugs, yoga, butto tell the truth I,ve been angry for ever and i intend to see that this perod in my life is addressed and accounted for. For years the shame has kept me from moving on this but im old and sick now so time is short. Names to follow soon

Okay, Mr. Midwesterner guy who says that Gibbon is the worst town to live in. First off, did you even live in the town of Gibbon? Did you attend Gibbon Public Schools? Its really suprised me when you said that Gibbon had a hefty percentage of teenage girls getting pregnant. Considering when I graduated from high school there were only about 2 girls pregnant. I really don't consider that a hefty amount of teenage girls don't ya think? And also about students getting a further education after graduating from GHS? I graduated from GHS and currently attending a 4 year university and will be graduating here this year and almost all of my classmates are attending if not a 4 yr university at least a 2 yr community college or went into the military services. So, apparently I don't know where you are getting your information. And as far as employing those illegal immigrants they are great assest to the community because you don't see very many Caucasians doing the hard work that those illegal immigrants do. So next time you have something to say about the great town of Gibbon, I would suggest that you get your resources right!

I can't really say that I hate any Nebraska town... Its a bit too general, and you can't point out a few bad experiences to say "I hate everything about this place..."
Overall myself... I've lived in Alliance my whole life... 18 years total, and although I can't really say I've enjoyed the small town environment, I cannot say I really "HATE" it, hate is too strong of a word for me, and It is definitely not the 'worst' town in Nebraska.
Although In all my time in Nebraska, I'll tell you the worst experience I ever had was within Scottsbluff, but there were a few good reasons for this. One, We were directed into the wrong apartment complex, making us a minority around a large number of the Hispanic population. Sadly this said that turnabout was fair play... And I was often isolated and insulted daily for this. My brother and I also had to be escorted daily to school by someone who was living with us, luckily nothing happened to either him or me and my brother.
So that was the worst experience, yet in all of my return trips to Scottsbluff I have spent time enjoying the sights and the people, so I cannot say that this is the worst town in Nebraska.
Well... I suppose you can say that you had a bad experience in the town... But until you have experience every small community in Nebraska, you have absolutely no right to judge.

In Lexington it went from a small town farming community, to people slaughtering goats inside apartments, and shoving pieces of the goat down the sewer line, to apartments with swimming pools having to be filled in, because people are using the pool for their laundry and a restroom. It went from a small crime town to gangs, drugs and vandelism. http://lexch.com
