You are correct, by chance do you know of anyone who is thinking about moving to a nice quiet, small town I have got just the place for anyone interested and know of a few places that may be for sale, at a very reasonable price in the not to distant future.

But do not talk with our city government, they are also the real estate agent around this place.

I have been to Sargent,NE spent some time there. At one time the place was a nice small town.
The Hospital closed up, how does a hospital close up? or was it an old folks home? From what I understand the place is still filled with all the fixtures, it was just abandoned. Is that true?

Close to town there is one of Nebraska's last remaining Sod houses, kind of cool.

Does Comstock still have the concert's?

It sounds like you do know Sargent, at least on the surface. It having a hospital was one of the reasons why I moved here in the first place, plus the fact my daughter married someone from this area, but the hospital closed as you say, the person who had been running it, got themselves into trouble with Medicare, I think it had to do with overcharging.

But that is one thing, Uncle Sam closed it down, however there were other doctors or groups of doctors that wanted to take it over, inasmuch as it was a fully equipped facility just sitting there, closed.

It had supposedly an enormous bill against it from the city, I heard something like $10,000 worth of electricty bills, and in our governments wisdome it refused to waive those bills and let the group of doctors begin operation of the facility. So they walked away, it stayed closed, has been subsequently cleaned out, and is now sitting vacant, as it has been for several years now.

If you remember where the hopital is located, just to the south about 1/4 mile is where it is proposed the motocross/mud drag track will be.

Comstock, that is kind of a sore subject around this part of the county, yes it is still functioning or at least attempting too. The individual who originally started it and ran it for 2-3 years apparently was, shall I say taking all the proceeds therefrom and instead of paying the bills for its operation, including paying the preformers, well nobody got paid. Nobody actually knows where all the money went, not to long ago they foreclosed upon the place and sold off everything he owned out there to attempt to get some of the monery due the people who furnished goods and services, etc.

The festival is now under new mangament and they are trying to keep it going, or get it going again, but as I understand it, nobody will have anything to do with it, including preformers, unless it is paid for up front.

Rural Nebraska,

What is your point??

The Omaha metro has nearly 900,000 people in it. You act like crime doesn't happen in rural Nebraska.

I grew up in rural Nebraska and still love it, but on a per capita basis there is not a significant difference in crime.

There are murders and molestations in rural Nebraska too.
