LOL! I tried to be so careful, and it seems you may have got me!
LOL!! I have a cousin who is a sheriff, who loves to catch me on sending things that aren't true! So I try to use Truth or Fiction, and Snopes on all emails of Question! So when I got this email, I tried to check it on both sites, and not either of them had anything. So I Googled it, and I thought CNN was a reliable source. Not paying close enough attention to the fact they didn't address his comments. So you got me. LOL! I would like to thank you for making me aware of the other source to check in the future.
And truely, I am laughing at myself - not you or anyone else. As I said, my cousin has gotten me on so many, and I thought I had done so good this time? But Obama's remarks aside, it would and did make me upset that he thought that our soldiers should pay for their own insurance. Doesn't it upset you? Just that he thought about it?? And no, I never served, but as I said, many of my family did. And many of my friends have, some young ones that are in this current war. As a telemarketer, you work with many young kids. Two that I became fast friends with, have served. I admire them greatly, and fortunately, they came home with no physical damage, I can't comment as to their mental state, tho they both seem to be fine. Thank God.
As to your comment about my mental stability, trust me... there are many that would disagree with you whole heartedly! ROTFL!! My son thinks I am a crazy old bat because of my twisted sense of humor! LOL! But I still love him, and it doesn't matter that he thinks I am crazy for doing the things I do in the name of my sense of humor! I love to have fun, otherwise, there isn't too much to do in my life.
I have to pick on you a little, tho, in fun. I know you added the George Straight song, for the content. But I couldn't help but notice that it says he is the King of Country. I have to argue with you on that one. He may be good, but he will never be the King of Country. In my humble opinion, that spot has to be saved for the likes of Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Sr. & Jr.,etc. None of which are my personal favorites, but you have to admit, others blazed the trail long before George. And Johnny Cash's song, "I Hurt Myself Today" will be an iconic song, again in my humble opinion. Now - I mean this in total fun. Because who is the King of Country is not important, and has no place on this thread. But I had to give you a hard time about it.
I have to tell you what one of my very good Hispanic friends said to me, after the influx of South Africans ( I say S. Africans because I was never sure if they were Sudanese of Somalians) to the packing house in Norfolk. Juan said " You know - those people are the best thing that ever happened to us Mexicans. Those white people don't think we are so bad now!" And he laughed really hard. Now I hope I didn't start another riot by sharing that, but he was right. He was no longer a second class citizen. And he never was in my mind, but I know when he first got here, he had many obstacles to tackle. But that was many years ago, and today, anyone that knows him well, knows he is one of the kindest hearted, hardest working individuals around.
Well, I don't know if you have gotten to Laurel yet or not, but I do hope all goes well for you. You have already fought one war, I hope you don't have any more battles in your future. I understand your looking for a small town life, but if Laurel isn't accepting of your heritage, just as a side note, Norfolk is a little more open minded. Well, maybe that isn't what should be said - possibly the fact that it wouldn't be a culture shock to Norfolk would be a better way to put it. One way or the other, they are more accepting than some places.
I thank you for making me aware of the FactCheck.org. I wll use it in the future. I hope your move goes smoothly.

George Straight is for sure not the King of Country, whoever posted the video must think that. I agree with you on that one for sure. I love me some John Prine, Waylon, Hank and Johnny Cash.

I really love all music, but I love something upbeat. So I lean towards Southern Rock, Van Zant, I do like Hank Jr., and Waylon. I just attended the blues fest at Cuthills Vinyard by Pierce, they had a rockin good Blues Band called 112 North Duck. We had some good wine, great music, and a wonderful afternoon. Looking forward to going to the one in August as well. I think that will be a great band as well. Sorry, definitely off the thread again! LOL! And I am surprised anyone even remembers John Prine, I used to listen to him all the time. He is great!

True, but George Straight is a pretty good guy to base your moralistic life around.

I have to completely go against what Straka91 says,i have lived in Wisner, have been trying to sell my house in Howells and currently live in Stanton.
Howells high rollers marry their cousins...no not slander its the truth they don't hide it,but they think you are an outsider if you didn't,second you better teach your child that when a teacher asks them to take their panties off that you should call the police.if you aren't welcomed they will poison your dog,cut your property lines and teach your children things that should never enter a childs mind, all facts which are ongoing cases with the Colfax county Sheriff.next Wisner...never ever had a problem and was so overwhelmed by the helpful gracious folks although alot of deaths, suicides and drug trafficking for such a tiny town,it seems they are in the paper every month.and now Stanton, which has such an array of folks being from Lincoln its as if it were a mini Lincoln you've got the rich of the rich to the poorest, every ethnic background.which by the way you will not find in Howells, they are all white.what i wouldnt give to sell or rent my home to a non-white family in Howells...but when i tried i was taken to the board and refused due to and i quote...."undesirables"...you better hope you dont put up a privacy fence either!
Stanton seems pretty normal because everyone lives as though there are too many different folks to get so much into their business.local kids recently graffittied the school and a billboard in howells which read "welcome to hell,f*** u f*****s" and i have to agree.

My experience with Nebraskans (as an Okie) is that they are among the most friendly people on the planet. If me and my family were to be moved to Nebraska as part of a job offer/relocation I wouldn't have a second thought. Nebraskans are some of the nicest, most pleasant people there are anywhere.
I'm a Sooner fan, but here's to the mighty Cornhuskers, who will be kicking some arse and taking names this year in college football. I am glad the Huskers are beginning to get back into the swing of things WHERE THEY RIGHTFULLY BELONG. College football without the Huskers vying for a title sucks.

Synopsis is right. I know quite a few people in Nebraska, and they some of the friendliest you want to meet. Admittedly most of them are from the Omaha area. But whenever I get a room for the night, be it North Platte, Kearney, York, or Grand Island, I always get a friendly comment from them when they ask about the area I live.
A thought about the Cornhuskers. This is the year they start making a move. The Nebraska fans are the most passionate college football plans there are. Finally, they have the team going in the right direction.
Best college football game I ever saw? Nebraska-Oklahoma game from 1971. Cornhuskers 35, Sooners 31. I still remember Chris Shenkel doing the play by play on that game, with Bud Wilkinson as analyst. What a battle! The college football writers later called that game "the match of the century". It was too!

Yeah, they don't come much better than Cornhusker fans Double H. Long time rivals of the Sooners, but I respect the hell out of people in Nebraska and am glad the Huskers are getting back into the spotlight. If there was ever a team the Sooners lost to, I'd prefer it to be the Huskers. Nothing but respect for Husker fans.
PS. Game of the century was just that. It WAS the game of the century.

Beatrice
There are a lot of things I like about Beatrice and rural Nebraska, but... well, my experience with some people in this city recently has been different. I'm new to the area, but you know, when you get burned too many times in a short period of time, it effects your perception. For instance, I was just out mowing, and a guy let his dog ***** on my neighbor's driveway and sidewalk right in front of me. I asked him if he needed a bag and said that his dog didn't do anything. He even asked if it was my yard, and then walked off like he didn't care. Come on man! Then last night, my wife and were riding our bikes, and to get onto the bike trail we had to drive on the main road (6th St/Rt. 77) briefly. So, a guy in his truck drove by and shouted out his window "Ride on a sidewalk!" He obviously doesn't know the law, but it soured what should have been a nice time. Then, my wife was trying to cross a road to catch up to me, and there would have been plenty of time, but a driver sped up so that she couldn't cross. There are a number of other direct, personal slams I've experienced, but I won't bore you. I just don't understand, because some of the people here are nice. Maybe it's the rising unemployment. Well, then maybe the city and the people should support new small businesses and entrepreneurs. God knows this town needs some new blood! If I could sum up the slogan of many of the people I've come in contact with, it would be "FU!" if you know what I mean. It would also be nice if when you pay someone to do their job, that they would do it right! Much of the culture here is Bud Light and nascar. I'll try to curb my disdain. I guess it's probably not that different from other places.
