Default Sidney, NE

I was raised in Sidney & it was a pretty nice place nearly 20 years ago. Can anyone tell me if its still a good place to live? How is the job market? Im a dispatcher for a trucking company & my husband is a welder for a rail service. His company actually has a branch there so a transfer is an option. We have 3 children, how are the schools now? Any input is appreciated. Ready to get out of the dustbowl!! (West Texas).

Well I don't know about Sidney's job market but we did pass through there on our way back to Aurora and stayed at the Holiday Inn, I suggest it if you need a hotel while you're there. Also someone in one of these threads told about greatschools.com which I found to be very very helpful. It gives an overall school record and tells how the students scored on yearly assesment tests. It definately put my mind at ease about the school my daughter will be attending. Hope it helps.

Default Jobs in Sidney, NE

Sidney is the main headquarters of Cabela's (in fact, the owners are from that area). They employ several hundred people in Sidney alone (approximately 3,700 throughout Nebraska). I haven't been to Sidney in several years but I keep reading (since I don't live too far away) that the town is growing in other areas simply because of the presence of Cabela's. So I think you shouldn't have too much trouble finding work there. I don't know if the wages will be all that spectacular, but that depends on what sort of job you get. Type "Cabela's" in Google and then find the "Careers" link at the bottom of the Cabela's page.

Good luck.

We moved here a year ago from WV. I must say that to have everythingn with in reach back there was awesome and to come here and to have everything within an arm, leg, well a few hundred was saddening. I do not like the travel to get to everywhere where there is even a decent Wal-mart, we have a"mini" superwal-mart! That is the one disappointment I have with this town.
