Go to the Aurora Meat Block in Aurora, Ne. They have the best beef you will ever taste, I promise. Corn fed locally raised and aged. Everytime we go back we stop on our way out of town to load up. You can't beat Nebraska beef, corn fed is not something that happens in just a few days.

Ooo ooo ooo! I've got some!

Biscuits and Gravy from Rezac's Cafe-I am totally gettin' me some in the morning. OR, how about ANYTHING from the Malmo bar? The chicken strips are de best. Yum yum. Plus, you will not find a tastier Bloody Mary. Believe me. I've tried!

A piece of trivia... the Reuben sandwich was invented at Omaha's Blackstone Hotel.

And speaking of salad dressing on sandwiches... anyone try Dorothy Lynch salad dressing? It's wonderful... and comes from Columbus, NE.

Curious? Here's where to find it... http://www.dorothylynch.com/storelocator (broken link)

Oh yeah Dorothy Lynch! I was so confused as a kid when we would travel out of state, no one had it, I couldn't figure out why the waitresses didn't know what I was talking about and thought that french dressing was a suitable replacement. I don't think so!

There used to be a Drive In in Aurora called Chuck's everyone went there and everyone that grew up there misses it. It's like something isn't right when I go home, no one has chicken like Chuck's chicken.

And in the summer, let's not forget about that incredible Nebraska-grown sweet corn to go with that nice T-Bone!

Oh my goodness, you can tell how long I've been gone, I forgot about the sweetcorn!! I don't even eat it anymore, Wyoming doesn't exactly have sweetcorn and the stuff they bring in from Colorado and Utah is so old it doesn't have any flavor left. Oh well, one of these years I'll buck up and go home into the stifling heat and humidity to enjoy some again, my mouth is watering just thinking about a piping hot ear of corn smothered in butter. YUMMO!!!

Question Where did they go?

I miss the old “Kings” hamburgers, onion rings. I understand that Grandmothers in Omaha continues to sell them. What ever happened to the Tuna Frenchie that they had? I also miss the Goodrich chocolate malts. The old “Ground Cow” at 76th & Pacific in Omaha, and not to forget the restaurant called Dumpling’s. I think they were in Omaha and Lincoln. Where did these places go and why did no one ever pickup and keep them running?

Hi AksarbeN - on your next trip up to Prescott, check out a mom & pop cafe in Dewey - Blue Hills Cafe (at the light across from Quailwood). They make an awesome tuna melt, and serve the best homemade fries around. $4.95 If you're missing that Nebraska home cooking, you'll love the place.

Thumbs up Thanks

I stopped there to eat years ago and enjoyed every meal. I remember the homemade pies they had! WOW Thanks for reminding me ~ I’ll make it a point to stop again and try the tuna melt. :-)
