Minnesota, Shminisota. There is a state with more lakes than MN:
Which state has the most lakes?

However, you may be happy to know that MN does have the highest number of registered boats per capita, with 16% of the population there owning boats (2004 stats, but MN requires ALL boats, even canoes/kayaks/rowboats to be registered, unlike many other states). NE ranked 24th, with 4.4% of our population owning boats.
Oklahoma lays claim to having the most MAN-MADE lakes in the US.
But, a whole lot of googling never brought me to a list of lakes per state. Anyone else?

The Sandhills have some nice lakes and the isolation I like.
However,Have ya visited the northwoods? This is where I go visit if I want to go fishing.
"In the heart of Wisconsin's northwoods lake country, there is a special place . . . With one of the world's highest concentrations of inland freshwater lakes including over 1300 lakes and 73 rivers and streams great for fishing or leisure activities within minutes of your door."
This is in "one" county. If ya haven't been there I highly recommend it for those interested in all lake activities.

We lived in Scottsbluff at one time and I think there is a Lake Minatare, but it has been over 20 years since I have been there. I can not remember how far it is from Scottsbluff, But I don't think to far.

I did some googling on this also, but never came up with much either. Alaska is going to be hard to beat with more than 3 million lakes. Now the the Sand Hills of Nebraska after a wet spring pops up lakes (ok pot holes) all over the place only to disappear about mid July, but not no 3 million of them. Interesting fact about boat owners in the state. I just upped that percentage, picked up an nice little boat there last week.

Enjoy the new boat.
Honestly, I've been away from Big Mac for over two weeks, so I can't give you any fishing reports here. The biggest news I know if that they ARE catching fish from the water, best success using some sort of bait or lure.
Another claim I've seen made, but not confirmed is that Nebraska has the most miles of river than any of the lower 48 states (I would assume we beat HI anyway).
