I really don't want to work for a zoo. I am aiming for the Department of the Interior, maybe a group under the Interior, like the BLM, National Parks, etc.

I would love mountains, though...

If you're stuck on the mountains, you'd better look a little farther west. Plus there are very few Interior properties in Nebraska. A couple of National Forests, some National Grasslands, and a couple of minor NPR parks.

Colorado is beautiful, but the cost of living is insane compared to Nebraska. Wyoming is a little better.

If you want mountains and you want Nebraska, then the closest you will have is probably the Pine Ridge area (Chadron) in northeast corner of the state... PineRidge is the eastern edge of the foothills for the Rockies, also a transition area from the Sandhills and also to the Badlands... very unique geography... love that part of the state.

wildlife management to get my certification as a wildlife biologist.
I know you're asking about Nebraska, and we're great Really, we are! On the other hand, I've heard of wildlife biologists flourshing in Yellowstone NP in Wyoming.
My husband actually has a buddy who works for Yellowstone and he LOVES it there.
With wherever your career takes you, good luck!

Thanks. Someone on the Colorado thread basically told me I would be better off taking a job with a National State Park than with the Department of the Interior directly. I think I will definitely keep that in mind!
